Project Controls Intern

Emerson’s Process Systems and Solutions business develops automation software to streamline manufacturing processes. We are looking for a Project Controls Intern (Summer 2025) who is interested in gaining real-world experience in a dynamic, collaborative environment at our Houston, TX location.
As a Project Controls Intern, you will provide assistance to Project Managers managing process automation projects. This internship is a great opportunity to gain experience in two areas:
- Project Finances
- Business systems and project setups
- Type of projects – Fixed, lump-sum, T&M, etc.
- Cost control and Work Breakdown Structure (WBS)
- Revenue recognizing
- Invoicing
- Accounts payable
- Commissions
- Project financial analysis and reporting
- Project risk calculations
- Project Planning
- Types of project schedules
- Building project schedules
- Earned value calculations, Estimate-at-Completion (EAC)
- Resource loading, resource forecasting and staffing curves
- Project progress curves, cash flow curves
In this Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:
- Setup new projects in the business systems – Oracle and Clarity. Participate in project cost control and planning activities and associated meetings with the Project Managers and project teams.
- Assist other project controls team members with updating financial data and reporting.
- Assist Project Mangers in forecasting sales (revenue) for the Presidents Operating Report (POR).
- Assist Project Managers on project scheduling, earned value calculations, EAC, HOSS, etc.
- Participate in department meetings and assist project controls team on the development initiatives.

For This Role, You Will Need:
- Currently enrolled in an accredited college/university
- Pursuing a degree in either Business, Economics or a technical discipline.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills along with attention to detail
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Access)
- Legal authorization to work in the United States. Sponsorship will not be provided for this position.
Preferred Qualifications that Set You Apart:
- Entering either their Junior or Senior year.
- Experience with Database Systems
- Exposure to Accounting
- Exposure to Business Management
- Exposure to Financial Analysis
