As a member of our passionate and dedicated team, you will play a crucial role in supporting survivors of sexual violence. Leading a team of Sexual Violence Wellbeing Practitioners. At SiT you’ll be responsible for motivating as well as inspiring positive communication and working together toward achieving SiT’s objectives. Utilising trauma-informed practice, you will provide compassionate care, empower survivors, and contribute to the broader mission, vision and values of our organisation.   

  • Providing emotional support, advocacy and therapy to survivors of sexual violence of all genders and all ages via telephone, online and in person aligned with and adhering to our strategic plan and working to contractual timescales   
  • Working to our three-phase response to trauma (Safety & Stabilisation, Specialist trauma therapy and Reconnection) in a trauma focused way empowering clients to move beyond their experiences of abuse  
  • Leading a team of practitioners: workloads / allocations and capacity, maximising resources and efficiency  
  • Carrying out case audits, reviews and other quality assurance activities 
  • Designing and delivering group programmes including our Hold Fast programme and training sessions to support survivors of sexual violence to build resilience, develop coping strategies, and promote self-care  
  • Monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of programmes and services and identify areas for improvement 
  • Ensuring robust allocation processes from referral through to intervention based on our internal triage model  
  • Proactive management and allocation of resources to ensure our waiting list is maintained  
  • Representing SiT in meetings with stakeholder agencies and other awareness raising activities as required.   

You will need:

  • some support or counselling / therapeutic training and relevant experience (to at least diploma level)
  • demonstrated understanding of trauma-informed care and its application in supporting survivors of sexual violence
  • experience working with survivors of sexual violence or trauma, preferably in a counselling, advocacy, or support role
  • strong interpersonal skills with the ability to demonstrate empathy, active listening, and non-judgmental support 
  • knowledge of community resources and referral networks related to sexual violence, mental health, and social services
  • excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to adapt language to be trauma-informed and survivor-centred 
  • ability to maintain professional boundaries, confidentiality, and ethical standards in all interactions.  
  • strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities effectively  
  • collaborative mindset and the ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • sensitivity to cultural, racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic diversity, and a commitment to promoting inclusivity and social justice  
  • proficiency in using technology, including Microsoft Office Suite and database management systems.
