Phoenix - Geotechnical Engineer

Our people division is growing, and we are looking for an Open Pit Geotechnical Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will provide geotechnical support for successful implementation of short and medium-term mine plans and operations at the Phoenix Mine. This requires strong leadership skills, strong technical and software skills, and the ability to effectively communicate geotechnical concepts, conclusions, and recommendations to on-site personnel.

Responsibilities:
- A strong health and safety leader that strives for personal and site-wide excellence.
- Complete routine geotechnical inspections of pit slopes, waste rock storage facilities and leach facilities
- Effectively communicate geotechnical findings, conclusions and recommendations to Mine Operations and Engineering personnel.
- Review and interpret geotechnical monitoring data.
- Provide 24 hour on-call monitoring system support to ensure systems are functioning adequately to support active mining operations.
- Manage geotechnical drilling investigation programs.
- Complete geotech fracture mapping in the field and using photogrammetry.
- Must be able to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Qualifications:
- Minimum requirement: B.S. degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Geology or Geological Engineering
- 0-3 years of professional geotechnical (or related) experience
- Cooperate and work effectively with team members and other departments to communicate results while providing solutions towards mitigating risk and advancing opportunities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
